Canaan has secured a follow-on order from Tether for custom mining modules set for deployment at a South America facility in 2026.
The deal centres on high-density hash board modules designed for immersion-cooled environments, with ACME Swisstech co-developing the modular system to reduce complexity and boost compute efficiency.
The agreement also includes an option for additional module purchases, signalling a potential multi-phase expansion as Tether scales its mining operations.
The partnership builds on a 2025 proof-of-concept project in which Canaan and Tether collaborated with ACME Swisstech to design integrated mining systems combining hash boards, control units and management software.
“Leveraging our strong ASIC design expertise and flexible development platform, we are delivering customised hash board solutions that enable partners to optimise system architecture at the component level,”
Said Canaan CEO, Nangeng Zhang.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said traditional mining systems are inefficient to scale, adding that modular compute allows the company to optimise cost and performance across its infrastructure.
Canaan, listed on the Nasdaq since 2019, is positioning its Avalon-based platform for enterprise-scale deployments as demand grows for flexible, component-driven mining systems.
