David Marcus announced Grid Global Accounts at Bitcoin 2026 in Las Vegas, introducing a dollar-denominated payment layer built on Bitcoin that connects users to 175 million Visa merchants globally.
The product enables real-time payments across 65 countries, with plans to expand to 100 Visa markets and 75 countries by the end of 2026, positioning it as a global payments infrastructure play.
“A dollar in a Grid Global Account is a dollar on any network,”
Said Lightspark CEO, David Marcus.
The system integrates with the Visa network, allowing users to spend globally while also supporting interoperability with stablecoins like USDC and USDT across multiple blockchains.
Marcus also introduced an agent delegation feature that allows AI agents to execute payments, transfers, and purchases on behalf of users within apps, while maintaining user control through predefined permissions.
The platform is designed for developers and businesses rather than consumers, enabling companies to capture revenue streams from payments, foreign exchange, and stablecoin yields that traditionally go to banks and intermediaries.
Marcus said the launch reflects improving regulatory clarity and infrastructure maturity, arguing that Bitcoin-based systems can now support scalable global payments despite long-standing industry skepticism.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $76,427.55.
