Tether-backed Oobit has launched Visa-supported virtual “Agent Cards” enabling AI agents to make autonomous online purchases using USDT without requiring fiat conversion.

The cards are funded directly from Tether’s treasury, allowing AI systems to execute transactions such as SaaS renewals, ad spend top-ups and cloud infrastructure provisioning.

The rollout began with a select group of businesses, with wider onboarding planned through June, subject to compliance checks including know-your-business requirements.

Oobit said the cards integrate with AI frameworks including OpenAI, Claude, AutoGen and LangChain, enabling automated financial workflows tied to operational triggers.

Each AI agent is issued a single card with built-in spending limits and merchant restrictions to maintain control and auditability.

The launch reflects growing expectations from industry leaders that AI agents will become dominant users of blockchain-based payments, potentially outnumbering human users in the near term.

The move positions Oobit at the intersection of stablecoins and AI-driven commerce, as firms experiment with autonomous financial systems for business operations.
