Social media platform X is preparing to roll out a new onboarding feature called Starterpacks aimed at helping new users follow curated accounts based on interests such as cryptocurrency.
X head of product Nikita Bier said the feature will launch within weeks after months of work compiling top accounts across more than 1,000 pre-made categories.
The Starterpacks tool will allow users to instantly follow groups of accounts tied to themes including crypto, business, finance, politics, technology and fashion.
Sub-categories shown in preview videos include memecoin trading, software builders, economics professors and online personalities.
“Over the last few months, we scoured the world for the top posters in every niche & country,”
Bier said, adding:
“We've compiled them into a new tool called Starterpacks: to help new users find the best accounts—big or small—for their interests.”
The rollout comes amid concerns that engagement on Crypto X has declined in recent years.
Bitcoin cypherpunk Jameson Lopp shared data indicating that posts containing the word “Bitcoin” fell 32% in 2025.
Bier said account growth remains one of X’s biggest challenges, particularly for new users navigating the platform.
He added that the strength of X lies in interest-based communities rather than mainstream timelines dominated by news and politics.
Similar Starterpack-style features have already been introduced by other social media platforms in recent years.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $89,827.86.
