
Acumen exercises option for JCR technology
- Acumen Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ABOS) exercised its exclusive option to develop and commercialize two Alzheimer’s disease candidates using JCR Pharmaceuticals’ (TSE:4552) J-Brain Cargo platform.
- The partnership aims to deliver therapeutic antibodies across the blood-brain barrier to better target toxic proteins associated with Alzheimer's disease.
- JCR Pharmaceuticals is eligible to receive up to US$555 million in milestone payments related to the development and sales of these products.
Acumen Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ABOS) executed its exclusive option to develop and manufacture two Alzheimer's disease treatment candidates using the proprietary blood-brain barrier (BBB)-penetrating platform from JCR Pharmaceuticals (TSE:4552).
This agreement expands upon a partnership initiated in July 2025, which focuses on combining JCR's J-Brain Cargo technology with Acumen’s amyloid beta oligomer-selective antibodies.
JCR Pharmaceuticals is entitled to receive an upfront option payment, followed by potential development milestones of up to US$40 million and sales milestones of up to US$515 million.
The collaboration intends to file an investigational new drug application by mid-2027 to begin formal clinical evaluation of these candidates.
