Kalshi said it will open a Washington, DC office and expand its political outreach as it faces growing scrutiny from US lawmakers and regulators.
The prediction market platform announced it has hired former Biden administration official John Bivona as head of federal government relations and Blake Bee, a former Amazon executive, to work on state and local policy.
“Kalshi acts as a neutral platform,”
A company spokesperson said, adding that it is in dialogue with policymakers as it considers deeper engagement with US lawmakers and the 2026 elections.
The expansion comes as prediction markets including Kalshi and Polymarket draw attention from federal and state officials over contracts tied to elections and other regulated events.
Kalshi gained traction after a 2024 court ruling allowed it to offer US election-related event contracts, though it is now facing legal challenges in at least four states over alleged unlicensed sports betting.
According to data from Dune Analytics, Kalshi accounts for roughly two-thirds of total prediction market trading volume, ahead of rivals such as Polymarket and PredictIt.
The platform has also offered contracts on a potential US government shutdown, highlighting how political uncertainty continues to drive activity on prediction markets.
