Windlab, the renewable energy developer backed by billionaire Andrew Forrest, has secured a landmark 10-year deal with Queensland government-owned CleanCo for the Kennedy Energy Park Wind Project.
Under the agreement, CleanCo will purchase 75% of the wind power output from the North Queensland facility over the next decade, with deliveries scheduled to commence in mid-2028.
The partnership follows a growing trend of government entities acting as cornerstone customers to de-risk large-scale green energy investments, mirroring recent long-term contracts signed by Snowy Hydro and Victoria's State Electricity Commission.
The deal highlights the strategic importance of the CopperString Transmission Project, a critical new power corridor currently under construction in the state’s north.
Queensland Treasurer and Energy Minister David Janetzki emphasised that the agreement underscores how the transmission infrastructure is successfully unlocking vast renewable resources near Hughenden.
